61: Swallows are Em Brownlowe and Jon Miller. They formed in the Summer of 2004
when they converged in Portland. Originally playing under the moniker of Dirty
Shirley, they changed their name to Swallows and began writing new music. The
duo use unexpected methods, non-traditional techniques and a queer aesthetic to
form their songs : We also listen to

from Tacoma, WA. Nsayi Matingou infuses raw,
complex, unconventional, bluesy guitar lines with impassioned, whisper-core
vocals while Peter Ryan juxtaposes open rhythmic back-space with boom-crashes to
accent transitions between Kusikia's usual dreamy flow and their harsher, more
